CONTUR GmbH - Training, Coaching & Consulting

Hello,

Many of the companies to whom we offer training and coaching services have had a successful start in 2011 - and the economic data all point to sustained growth. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly clear that the world economic "deck of cards" has been reshuffled. Attention is now focused especially on the BRIC nations, with a yearly growth rate of 5% to 10% and 40% of the world's population.

This momentous course change not only demands a strategic change of management's mindset, but a change in their business model of choice as well. Important decisions need to be shifted to local management teams in the target markets; the selection and assignment of expats must be professionalized to ensure they are qualified in intercultural relations; and above all recruiting, developing, and integrating local specialists and management must be accelerated. New solutions must be found to facilitate deployment of "mobile strike forces" that can support the launch of new plants or the expansion of supply and logistic structures when and where needed.

With our many years of expertise in training and development, we can provide all the support you need to master these processes!

Warm regards,
Volker Maschmeyer

BRIC – the world’s biggest emerging markets take off

BRIC stands for Brazil, Russia, India, and China. Jim O´Neill, economist at Goldmann Sachs used this term first in the beginning of this century for the countries with the fastest growing economies. In 2003 he predicted that BRIC countries will have surpassed most developed industrial countries including France, Great Britain, Germany, and Italy and make up the six largest economies together with the USA and Japan by 2050. more...

Challenges in international executive development

Future leaders are leading international leaders

We understand the term “leaders” on the background of the framework “leading self”, “leading others” and “leading leaders”. Participants of leadership programs promise an ongoing career development, high value addition to the corporation and to take the step from leading others - that is to say leading people, teams and projects – to leading leaders. Participants of international leadership programs will lead leaders from all over the world. Their skill-set must incorporate intercultural skills. A mere knowledge of some Does and Don’ts in certain trans-national situations will not suffice. more...

‘Distance Leadership’ - leading international teams from abroad

Economic development of the so-called BRIC-states is without doubt more than impressive.

At local production sites culturally diverse work strategies surface in project teams when local staff and German colleagues work together over thousands of kilometers and many time zones. Often project leaders or managers are still located in Germany and thus got to lead virtually. Such new conditions for production and work challenge executives in many new ways. What do they need to consider when leading virtual teams? What cultural differences must they pay attention to? Which employee is up to doing his/her job without daily contact to the superior? How do you keep contact to your employees at international locations? How do you keep employees motivated without direct engagement? These are only some of the manifold questions that arise for executives in international contexts. Maybe you find some answers in our training "Working in remote and virtual teams"?

Success factors - foreign assignments and re-integration

China’s economic miracle - boomtown with pitfalls

China booms –everybody wants to be part of the economic miracle. Who wouldn’t? Over-proportional growth rates, apparent westernization, an opening up towards the rest of the world…all this meets business partners and practices from Europe. What you have to keep in mind is that the Chinese partners you are courting often keep to their values and traditions and defy assimilation. Dr. Therese Geulen our expert partner for intercultural trainings in preparation for assignments to China looks more closely at this –often underestimated- topic and gives first suggestions. more...
