Deciding Wisely and Confidently – With and Despite Emotions

For leaders with decision-making responsibility

You make the decisions - or so you think. But more closely leaders look, the more interesting the answer to this seeming simple question becomes.

Current research findings in neuropsychology and organizational studies confirm what many leaders feel in their day-to-day work: Emotions are an integral part of the decision-making process - one that is often underestimated - at every level and in every role.

Added to this is generative AI - an immensely helpful tool that at the same time imperceptibly influences how we think and therefore how we feel. That, too, is part of the decision-making reality leaders face today.

what you learn

  • You recognize the influence of emotions on decision-making and illustrate it with your own examples.
  • You understand intuition as “liquefied memory” – and distinguish when it is a resource and when it is a bias.
  • You apply key insights from neuropsychology and organizational research to your day-to-day leadership practice.
  • You use Janssen’s Model®, “Four Rooms of Change,” as a tool for navigating and reflecting on decisions.
  • You classify generative AI as a factor influencing thought and emotion and deal with it in a mindful way (optional module).

Course Description

In this one-day seminar, you’ll explore how emotions and generative AI influence your decisions – intuitively, based on experience, and with scientific depth in the background.

Janssen’s Model® of the Four Rooms of Change provides the framework: It shows you which inner room you’re in – and exactly how that shapes your decisions. Because your starting point determines how we decide. And every decision can set a journey in motion.

Leaders who have participated in this seminar recognize more quickly the inner state from which they make decisions – and what that means. They gain clarity about their own decision-making patterns, which previously operated unconsciously, and can act more purposefully before a decision is made reflexively.

This sustainably enhances the quality of their decisions – within the complexity of everyday leadership.

The day combines an experience-based introduction with an in-depth exploration of how emotional states arise and which cognitive systems influence our decision-making logic.

The session then focuses on repositioning: What changes as a result of new insights – and how can we consciously shape our own initial state of mind?

Those who wish to do so can also explore in greater depth how generative AI influences our thinking and feelings, and in what ways it supports or obscures decision-making.

Participants’ own leadership situations are included in a peer-led case discussion before the day concludes with the consolidation of personal takeaways.
