Course description

As a leader, it is your job to create and maintain an environment that allows the people around you to operate as a cohesive, well performing team. This means a reliable, consistent level of results, better accountability, greater commitment, and a more effective way of managing conflict, all of which establishes lasting trust.

Content

  • Shared purpose:

The success of your team depends on a common story or narrative. It can be the classic mission statement, but the important thing is that everyone understands it.

  • Communication setup:

Information is currency, and how your team shares, distributes, manages its information is key to smooth.

  • Work organization:

It is important to discuss when and how things get done given the joint synchronous and asynchronous context that the work is being done in. Hand-offs, information repositories, check-ins, self-motivation all play a role here.

  • Motivational theory:

Moving beyond extrinsic motivation to making it possible for your team members to discover their intrinsic motivation

  • Accountability:

Shared responsibility often gets a bad rap. Yet modern hybrid teams need the “all for one, one for all” mentality to thrive. It is essential to keep things going, for team cohesion and trust.

  • Growth mindset:

This is what is all comes down to. Leading by example, coaching where needed, mentoring if needed, nudging in the right direction. At the end, your impact as a self-aware leader with the best interests of each of team members in mind will carry on even when you are not interacting with your team.
