Miguel Ángel Abarca Giordanelli

Trainer and Consultant at CONTUR

Miguel Angel was born in the city of Valencia, Venezuela, where he lived, studied and worked for a good part of his life until he decided to settle in Caracas, the capital of that country. He obtained a degree in electrical engineering, mention in automation and systems from the University of Carabobo, which is why he likes to say that he is a proud engineer in mind and heart.

Passionate about learning, his postgraduate studies include a diploma in advanced studies in marketing, a diploma in corporate finance (both from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello) and a diploma in negotiation and conflict resolution from the Universidad Metropolitana.

He is also formally certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt, as a Marketing Coach in Design for Six Sigma, as a Change Acceptance Process (CAP) practitioner and as a Coach in the SANDLERTM sales methodology. Additionally, he has several complementary formal studies, among them the Advanced Leadership Program at the Leadership Development Institute (LDI) and the Marketing Leadership Program at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

His main areas of expertise revolve around leadership at the managerial level, change management, sales and customer experience, as well as quality and continuous process improvement. All of the above is supported by real practical experience accumulated during more than 20 years as an executive of transnational companies such as 3M, MICROSOFT and QUIMICA SUIZA in different leadership positions in Latin American countries.

He currently works as General Manager of CONTUR Consulting’s Mexican operations, also performing instructional or training tasks for managers or executives, as well as designing/developing organizational development programs in the aforementioned areas of expertise.

In his role as consultant, he already has an experience of more than 1,800 hours of training and about 2,500 people trained in various corporate programs in recent years, and remains focused on constant preparation and training in the areas indicated according to the complex and dynamic challenges currently facing organizations and their leaders. Rather than training (teaching how to do), he prefers to train (teaching how to be). Rather than advising (telling what to do), she prefers to make people reflect and then accompany them.

He currently resides in Mexico City with his wife and daughter, after six years in the country. A nature lover and staunch defender of animals, he enjoys exercise, reading, good music and collecting Don Quixote figures and Coca-Cola objects.
